Strengths

As part of my coursework at Luther Seminary I had to take the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment, and I have since found it to be a helpful way to think about leadership, gifts, and the unique way God has created all of his children. My results are listed below.

Personal Strengths – StrengthsFinder 2.0 Results
Leadership Style: Strategic

  1. Input – Have a crazing to know more. Like to collect and archive information
  2. Deliberative – Serious care in decisions or choices. Anticipate obstacles.
  3. Intellection – Characterized by intellectual activity. Introspective.
  4. Analytical – Search for reasons and causes. Ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation.
  5. Learner – Great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. Process of learning excites.

To put it simply, I am an “ideas guy.” I like thinking about big ideas. Visioning, strategic planning, thinking theologically, analyzing pattens and trends, reading, and researching are things that really suit me when it comes to ministry. Because I have learned where my strengths lie, I have also learned that I need to surround myself with people who are strong in different areas than I am. Making sure that I have people around me who can ground my ideas and put them into action is very important so they can quickly move from the ideas stage to implementation. Having people who are naturally relationally oriented is also very important. I enjoy spending time with people, but oftentimes that is very draining on me if I have to constantly bounce from one person to another (I am an introvert as well). People who really thrive when they are talking with people are a huge asset in order to complement my strengths and make sure that my thinking actually keeps people at the forefront.
